A piece of west coast fjordsscape, namely Åkrafjorden.

Adventure view at 3000 feet

I totally fell in love with this view and simply had to stop the car and take a picture of it. This was on our way home from summer vacation, about 1/3 of the way across the mountains. I took a few landscape pics of fjords and such on this trip, but personally I think this one came out best. The half-dry bits of lake i the foreground is called Kjelavatn.

Location is 59°48'23.74"N 7°13'34.85"E, south-west direction.

This is a water reservoir, used to make hydroelectric power. One of the easiest ways to spot this is by noticing the water line, and the dry gray rocky layer below the green grassy one. It's pretty low at the moment, promising astronomical prices on electricity this upcoming winter.

Being a member of the European electricity market, Norwegian power companies will produce huge amounts of electricity while water supplies are abundant, and sell cheaply to other European countries, spending 90% or more of the available water this way. Later, when water levels are low, they won't be able to afford the same production rate, so they'll import expensive coal or nuclear power generated electricity for our industry and private households, at sky-high prices. That's taking care of your own for ya.

Note: The BusyThumbs censor system has forced me to misspell a few words to avoid -bleep- in my post. The words this time are Eur0pean (E·u·r·o·p·e·a·n) and ch3aply (c·h·e·a·p·l·y).

Edit: After a quick word with the management, I can now use European and cheaply in the normal straightforward manner :)
Dragonfly

Everyone has to come from somewhere. Geographically, I'm from Norway. Blogwise, I'm one of the many users on Phlog.net. Sadly, Phlog has fallen on hard times, taken over by a company who contrary to promises of continued development and support decided to dump it, faster than a politician would dump his electorial yadda-yadda once he has won. So quite a few of us are looking for new homes. The next few weeks will probably tell whether I'm going to stay here or just passing through.

The dragonfly was caught by my daughter C at Avaldsnes near Haugesund, on a sunny day while exploring more than a thousand years of historical heritage.

Note: I used the word "s·t·a·y·i·n·g" in the above text (without the hyphens), but it got replaced with "-bleep-". How does that make sense? I normally refrain from using bleepy language in my blogs :-p

Edit: After a quick word with the management, I can now use the word staying in the normal straightforward manner :)
