...you are seeing is a picture of american soldiers escorting an insurgent, this photo was taken not in iraq but manila at the turn of the previous century.

the uniform has changed but the pretext is the same.
i got the old photo from this nifty website.

...a lax in security? gettin this close to the tarmac in an area totally accessible to the public is probably unheard of in some highly strung western airport terminal. but not here, either they've got a top notch unobtrusive security system in place or no security at all. imagine a die hard fanatic lobbing a hand grenade at that park aircraft--BOOM! instant headline on CNN.

..is the power behind the throne? my recent encounter with the exprez only confirms my suspicion that he intends to be the top honcho again through charter change, the tete-a-tete i attended was nothing more than a gimmick promoting its virtues. at the moment he is contend to be the power behind the throne, maintaining this status quo till the constitutional changes happen and quashing any and all notion of a people power to remove the present prez from office. in his words " any third people power to oust arroyo from office will be a bloody one"-in plain english " the military won't be timid like before.

so i guess there is no hope in the near or distant future, the country would continue spiraling down in the abyss.
